New SME Corporate Governance Guidelines Launched in Nigeria

In May 2024, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Convention on Business Integrity and UN Global Compact Network Nigeria, launched the Nigeria SME Corporate Governance Guidelines.

These guidelines are a milestone in the effort to build resilient, transparent, and sustainable businesses in Nigeria. They offer a framework that even small businesses can use to introduce accountability, transparency, and ethical business practices.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Rabiu Olowo, CEO of the FRC, emphasized that governance is key to unlocking capital and driving long-term growth for small businesses.

CREF Advisory Services Limited proudly aligns with this initiative. We are helping SMEs across Nigeria implement these guidelines, not just in theory, but in practice — offering practical tools, advisory, and mentorship to institutionalize governance in their day-to-day operations.
